About the Project

The San Jose Downtown Foundation (SJDF) was looking for creative, yet cost-effective ideas on ways to expand its successful “Downtown Doors” project that covered utility doors and boxes with student artwork. One of the issues involved the need to create a sense of place, and to increase exploratory behavior of the public, so that they would discover new Downtown Doors in the area. In under 60 days, Group of Minds delivered 12 new concepts to SJDF, made contact with 20+ potential partners to help defray startup costs, facilitated a selection process with the SJDF board, and and delivered a detailed implementation plan that outlines the specific short- mid- and long-term steps to implementation. This strategic planning process energized the board, who is now in the process of launching these exciting new initiatives.
